Small Town Charm

at Ligonier Town Hall

 

This beautiful mural depicts aspects of Ligonier’s small town history, community and growth. With images of the Bandstand located in the center of the Diamond, St. Ann’s Church, Town Hall, Darlington Station and Waterford Place, this mural takes you back through time and gives viewers a taste of what makes Ligonier Valley so special.

Natural Beauty

at Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art

 

It is hard to capture the beauty and charm of Ligonier Valley but this mural does a wonderful job depicting the Valley’s allure. Viewers can almost smell the Mountain Laurel and hear the water rushing through the many creeks and waterfalls surrounding Ligonier Valley. Images of the fire tower, Linn Run State Park and the exquisite conservatory at Penguin Court are just a taste of the beauty Ligonier Valley has to offer.

Recreation and Tourism

at the Ligonier Rail Road Museum

 

Ligonier Valley is home to Idlewild Park & Soak Zone, and Laurel Mountain Ski Resort. In this mural, you see a blend of activities in the Valley through the years. You get a taste for just a few of the many pastimes and activities Ligonier Valley has to offer its residents and visitors alike. Come out and play! You too can enjoy fishing, hunting, golfing, visiting museums or cycling through the beauty of the Valley.

History and Heritage

at Fort Ligonier

 

Who does not love a good tour of historic landmarks and forts! This mural gives viewers a sampling of the historical significance of Ligonier and its heritage; displaying the rich history Ligonier Valley has and the role it played in our country’s birth. Depictions of Native Americans, George Washington, soldiers, and Fort Ligonier illustrate important moments in our country’s history.

Agriculture and Industry

at Compass Inn in Laughlintown

Ligonier Valley’s growth and expansion can be seen through illustrations in this mural. Coal miners, coke ovens, stagecoach stops, farmers, railroads, iron furnaces, and sawmills all played important roles in Ligonier Valley over the years. These sites and locations can be learned about and toured today.
