About the Event

If you already registered for a previous Virtual Art Camp session, you do not need to register again. The same zoom link will be utilized and a reminder email sent one week before the event.

The classes will take place the second Saturday of every month from February through May at 11:00 a.m. – 11:45 a.m. for children ages 6-9 and 12:30 p.m. – 1:45 p.m. for children ages 10-13. Please register for your child's specific age group. This course costs $40, and it includes an art kit filled with the art supplies necessary to complete the projects every month. Kits can be picked up at any SAMA museum location. Please allow 5 business days for your kit to be available. See our website for locations, addresses, and hours of operation. Students who are unable to attend every class will have access to the recordings provided at the end of the camp.

In this four-session virtual art camp, artist Amy Roadman will demonstrate various materials artists use to create art and learn how to use these supplies like a real artist! Join us to create a work of art the second Saturday of each month, February through May, while experimenting with different art materials each session. This camp will enhance observation skills and the understanding of creating the illusion of space through placement, size, and overlapping of objects, atmospheric perspective, and the amount of texture and detail added to each work of art. The difference between sketching and drawing will be discussed and demonstrated throughout the process as well as shading, layering, and color mixing. Each student will be given guidance but encouraged to express his or her own individuality.

February 13th - recording will be provided at the end of the camp
