Pastel Painting Workshop

Ligonier Valley will host a pastel painting workshop with artist, Patty Young, a member of the Pittsburgh Pastel Artists League and award-winning artist. The cost is $35 per person for an afternoon of pastel painting. Participants must bring their own supplies, and we encourage artists to bring a project to work on or have already started. Patty will offer personal assistance and demonstrate various pastel painting techniques to help you add that special something to your work.  Patty Young is a lifelong learning artist, attending Saturday morning art classes at Carnegie Mellon while in high school.  Young went on to study commercial art at the Pittsburgh Institute. While she paints and has taught watercolor classes, Patty favors pastels and painting outside, en plein air.  Patty’s paintings draw viewers in with a sense of familiarity, comfort and warmth. One gets the sense of being in the painting. During this pastel workshop Patty will walk participants through her creative process and demonstrate how she constructs a painting. She will share what she looks for in a landscape painting. Patty will talk about composition, value and color as well as how to frame your pastel paintings. Reservations are limited.
