About the Event
Join us at SAMA Loretto this October as we journey through the nine circles of Hell with Dante and Virgil during a one of a kind screening of the Italian silent film, Inferno (1911). This special screening will begin with a short talk by Dr. Matthew Ussia about the film and the style of music he will be performing and feature a live original score performed by the Noise/Drone/Shoegaze/Doom music artist known as Theremonster. Theremonster is the stage name of Dr. Matthew Ussia, Director of First-Year Writing at the Department of English at Duquesne University. This special audio/visual event will be a unique opportunity to view a film that is not typically screened in public as well as expose audiences to the avant-garde and experimental genre of music known as ‘noise music’. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the event will start at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $10 for regular admission, and students are $5. SFU students seeking CES credit may register for free for this event. This event is intended for mature audiences as the film contains some nudity and depictions of Hell that may be disturbing to some viewers.
