About the Event

Camps are taught in small, informal groups by Museum staff and professional visiting artists. These are five-day camps for ages 5-9 from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. and ages 10-14 from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. with cost $125 per child. There will be an exhibition reception for friends and family of the students’ creations on the final day of camp starting one hour before the close of camp.

We are going to take a deep dive into the way we see faces in art throughout the ages in all different styles.  Do you think selfies are a new thing just because we have constant access to a camera?  Artists from all eras have been fascinated with capturing people and animals in formal poses as well as documenting common activities in their daily life. We’ll express ourselves through many different techniques, art materials, and styles of art to work as real artists documenting our lives and surroundings in funny, fabulous, fashionable, fancy, and formal faces.
