Ligonier Art Supply Sampler Day

We are hosting a special afternoon of “All you wanted to know about art materials” discussion and demonstration.  These sessions will be conducted by SAMA Artists-in-Residence, Amy Roadman and Rita Haldeman. The event is scheduled for Saturday, October 30, 2021, beginning at 1:00 p.m. These sessions will provide you with all the information you need to know to make informed decisions on how to invest in just the right supplies to start that special project. There are two sessions being held during the afternoon.  We will cover Paints and Wet Medium in the first session from 1-2:30pm and Drawing and Dry Medium in the second session from 2:30-4pm. Come to just one or both!

Starting a new hobby can be intimidating and expensive if you are unsure what supplies to purchase or how they all work. Don’t be afraid to start an artistic hobby just because you are unsure exactly what to do. These sessions will provide you with all the information you need to make informed decisions on how to invest in the right supplies for your project.

Amy and Rita will have stations set up to demonstrate and walk you through how to use each medium. You will be given a printable resource and buying guide for every topic covered. You will also get an opportunity to try out and experiment with the media of your choice to get a feel for how they work. Along with the resources and buyer’s guide, you will receive sample supplies so you can make the most informed decisions for purchasing your own supplies. Some of the topics include oil paints, acrylics, watercolor, gouache, alcohol inks, painting surfaces, types of brushes, drawing pencils, colored pencils, pastels, and charcoal.
