About the Event
Learn the art of dying eggs in the Pysanky tradition at the Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art in Altoona. Celebrate Easter in an artistic fashion on April 3, 2021. Join us for the morning session from 10:00 a.m.—1:00 p.m. or the afternoon session from 2:00 p.m.—5:00 p.m. Cost to attend is $30 per person and class sizes are limited to six people. Registration is required for this event by Friday, April 2nd at 5:00 p.m. and can be made online or by contacting the museum.
During your three-hour course, Patrice Harley guides you through the dying, waxing, and decoration process. In the Pysanky style, intricate designs are written on delicate eggs with a wax-resistant material then dyed and decorated. Please note that some of these processes will require parental supervision. All materials are provided.
At the end of your workshop, your finished egg will be placed on display at the museum for two weeks!
