Altoona Our Backyard Opening Reception

This exhibition, titled Our Backyard : Blair County and Beyond with Sam Dietze, opens January 14th, 2022. Join SAMA and Sam Dietze at the opening reception with refreshments and artist lecture. Sam Dietze is an artist, focusing on plein air and space subjects. His lifelong fascination with astronomy and art has led him to his degrees in astronomy from Penn State University and astrogeophysics from University of Colorado. His interest in art actually started to flourish after he got out of college, while he was working in a chemistry lab. Dietze often bikes and hikes around the Altoona area, carrying his supplies in his backpack and a canvas under his arm. Dozens of his paintings bring the Altoona area to life in this solo exhibition. Dietze has shown his art locally for years, and he has participated in national shows for artists with disabilities. He holds memberships in the local art organization known Art In Common and in the International Association of Astronomical Artists.
