About the Event
Join us on Friday, March 4th, 2022 at 6:00 pm for an opening reception. Hear from the artists, enjoy conversation and refreshments while learning about creating en plein air. Through the months of August, September, and October, artists from the region met weekly at various parks, attractions, and historic sites across Blair County to create artwork. This program, known as the “Community Creates Together”, let artists collaborate, explore, and create together in new, exciting, and safe ways.
En plein air is the process of creating artwork in the natural environment, often creating landscapes and subjects that are at that location. This technique was often used by impressionist painters, who studied the changing light in different scenes. The participants in this exhibition have attended many of the weekly Community Creates Together events, which culminate in this new exhibition. Popular locations in Blair County, such as Chimney Rocks, Fort Roberdeau, and Baker Mansion were included in the three-month line up and are featured in this exhibition.
