The Site Director's responsibilities include professional leadership and management of the satellite museum. The Director works with the Board of Trustees to develop, manage, communicate, and execute a clear vision within the satellite organization. The Director collaborates with the Board of Trustees to develop and implement the Museum's strategic plan. The Director determines team responsibilities, selects qualified staff, models effective behaviors and skills, and builds morale among staff and volunteers. The Director is charged with fundraising, managing operations, processes and programs, planning exhibitions; developing and managing the site budget; writing and assisting with grant proposals; planning the satellite museums’ activities including hosting, planning, and obtaining sponsors and donations for fundraisers. He/she acts as the Museum's representative in the community increasing SAMA's visibility and influence with legislators, stakeholders, and other constituencies. Demonstrate the capacity to bring creativity and original thinking to searching for, structuring, and writing grant proposal content. A team player with an outstanding ability to work with people at all levels, from staff to senior leaders in the community. Personal skills include use of sound judgment, clear interpersonal and politically correct work environment skills, aptitude for building relationships, understanding team dynamics, taking initiative, and solving problems. Directors will need to be available Monday through Friday with some additional evening and weekend hours, depending on events. A Bachelor’s degree or higher in an area of museum specialty or general art or art history is preferred.

Visitor Services Associate

Visitor Services Associates welcome visitors to the museum and assist in the day-to-day operations of the Museum including but not limited to contact correspondence, facility maintenance, museum store sales and assistance, event support, and exhibition installation. VSAs provide the public with museum information at the museum, through the mail and email, on phone calls, and through social media. VSAs maintain the appearance of the museum including cleaning, organizing, and opening and closing procedures. Museum store organization, pricing, display, and sales are among this position’s responsibilities. VSAs will assist with events by maintaining attendance records, aiding in set up and tear down, and taking photos and videos for digital outlets. Exhibition assistance is a key requirement including patching and painting walls, safely handling, storing, and displaying artworks, retaining checklists of artworks in exhibition, assisting artists with paperwork and correspondence, and label text writing, printing, and display. VSAs will work directly with the public and volunteers of the museum to facilitate exhibitions and events. A team player with an outstanding ability to work with people at all levels, from staff to senior leaders in the community and the board of directors. Personal skills include use of sound judgment, clear interpersonal and politically correct work environment skills, understanding team dynamics, taking initiative, and solving problems.  VSAs should be available to be scheduled for part time hours during museum hours of operation Wednesdays through Sundays 12:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. with some additional evening and weekend hours to facilitate events. Candidates of all levels of education and experience are welcome to apply. Proficiency in basic computer use such as Microsoft Word, Teams, PowerPoint, and Excel data entry is preferred. A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
