Gerald “Jerry” Wolf
Gerald “Jerry” Wolf, 99, of Westminster, Md., Ft. Myers, Fla., and formerly of Altoona, passed away peacefully Nov. 29, 2024, at Bridging Life Dove House in Westminster, Md. He was born in Hollidaysburg, son of the late George A. and Dorothea (Prendergast) Wolf.

He was the loving husband of the late Aline D. Wolf, his wife of 73 years.
​
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by siblings: George Wolf Jr., the Rev. Charles E. Wolf SJ, Ann Breidenstein, Marie Riley, Stafford Wolf, Teddi Leiden and Patience Griffith.
​
Jerry was a 1943 graduate of Altoona Catholic High School (now Bishop Guilfoyle Academy) and earned his bachelor’s degree from Scranton University in 1948.
​
Jerry spent his working career at Wolf Furniture Co., retiring as president.
​
He was a veteran of the United States Navy and a lifelong Roman Catholic.
​
Jerry was committed to the Altoona community, and this commitment extended well beyond his professional life. He and Aline played key roles in founding Penn-Mont Academy, which has been providing quality Montessori education for 60 years. Jerry was also a board member for various organizations, including the Central PA Community Foundation, Mid-State Bank, the National Home Furnishings Association, the Wolf Kuhn Foundation, The Bedford Springs Music Festival, the Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art and the Railroaders Memorial Museum.

He was a passionate lover and supporter of the arts and was a gifted artist himself. His beautiful pastel paintings hang in all of his children’s homes. Jerry also enjoyed traveling, playing tennis, music, theater, opera and politics.

Jerry will be missed by his nine children: Georgette Wolf (Amanda), Catherine Maresca (Charles), Mary Martone (William), Patrick D. Wolf (Janine), Gregory Wolf (Debra), Charles J. Wolf (Wendy), Christopher Wolf (Julie), Dorothea Wolf (Bruce) and Grace Rainer (Scott); 17 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
