Upcoming Events

We are able to open our doors to the public free of charge because of proceeds raised from our events. The SAMA museums offer luncheons with guest speakers, art classes, community events and award-winning student education programs. We cannot do it without the support of our communities. Thank you for supporting the museum in YOUR community.

As museums across the globe are navigating new and uncertain circumstances, SAMA is coming up with new ways to connect with the community. Without the ability to host large special events, we turn instead to virtual events and intimate gatherings where visitors and staff can engage personally in modified, smaller settings. We are working very hard to maintain and increase our programming and would be grateful for your participation. Visit the event list page for details and to register for SAMA events.

Galas

We look forward to reinstating SAMA's annual gala fundraisers in the near future. Until then, SAMA is coming up with new ways to connect with the community. We are currently hosting many virtual events and intimate gatherings where visitors and staff can engage personally in modified, smaller settings. Visit the event list page for details and to register for SAMA events. Thank you for your support during this difficult time.

Altoona Think Pink

Think Pink is an electric evening of elegance and excitement hosted typically in the fall at the luxurious Blairmont Club in Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania. Last year's event was sponsored by SAMA and the Magee-Womens Specialty Center at UMPC Altoona and included dinner, drinks and a silent auction with an incredible performance of dueling pianos by The Flying Ivories. This event benefits the arts while helping the fight against breast cancer.

Bedford Crystal Soirée

Crystal Soirée is a black-tie affair typically hosted in the winter at the opulent Omni Bedford Springs Resort and Spa. The theme last year was a black and white masked ball and was sponsored by SAMA and the Bedford County Humane Society. There were several workshops and events leading up to the big day which was an evening of entertainment, dinner dancing and a silent auction. Proceeds promoted art education programming to children K-12 and individuals suffering from chronic pain, the elderly, infirmed, and those on the autism spectrum. The Bedford County Humane Society, in their new facility, promotes humane treatment and care of animals by providing affordable sterilization surgery, reducing the number of homeless animals, and maintaining a safe and comfortable place for animals.

Ligonier Garden Party

Garden Party is held in the spring among the beautiful gardens of the Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art at Ligonier Valley. This year, we're taking guests back to 1969 Woodstock with our nineteenth annual Garden Party. The event will be reminiscent of the late 1960s with delicious food, live music, silent auction items, and games of chance. Come have a groovy time at our Garden Party hosted on Saturday, June 12 at the Ligonier Valley Museum.

During the event, guests will enjoy two special exhibitions this year. Inside the Museum and under the tent, guests will be treated to live music. Games of chance will be offered as well a silent auction and 50/50 raffle. Dig the delicious “Woodstock-themed” trendy food menu and sit and enjoy the view while getting a henna tattoo! Can you dig it?

Loretto Gala

The annual SAMA Gala is the largest fundraiser for our five museums; historically held on the St. Francis campus in Loretto, PA. But in 2020 the Kentucky Derby Themed Gala was held at the extraordinary Winsome Estate and Stables in Hollidaysburg; the perfect location for this Derby themed event.

It certainly was one to remember with delicious hors d'oeuvres, mint juleps, red roses, and other Derby themed treats and fashions. The live Kentucky Derby race was broadcast on a huge screen in the large arena. Post-race there was an exciting live auction featuring vacation trips/one with a private jet, art, remarkable garden decor, and dining and cultural experiences. The Casino was open all evening and the players could buy beautiful, bountiful gift baskets with their winnings. The silent auction was set up like little private shops featuring fun and unique items. The Gala was a major success, thanks to our Patrons, Sponsors and guests.

The 2021 Gala is now being planned, this year with a Preakness race theme.
