Altoona – The Auxiliary of the Southern Alleghenies Museum
of Art is planning a bus trip to the Philadelphia Museum of
Art and to view the Diana: A Celebration exhibition
at the National Constitution Center on Tuesday, December 1.
The trip will conclude with a stop at the King of Prussia
Mall. Price is $100 per person, with a $25 non-refundable
deposit due with reservation. Included in the cost is
admission to both museums and round-trip transportation. Due
to limited seating, reservations are required by November 15
and can be made by calling (814) 472-3920.
The National
Constitution Center is exhibiting the debut of Diana: A
Celebration. The travelling exhibition, on a limited
three-month run, showcases the life and work of the Princess
of Wales. The exhibition explores her childhood, her
engagement to Prince Charles, their 1981 wedding and her
work as a humanitarian, and includes items such as her royal
wedding gown, diamond tiara, 28 garments by famed fashion
designers, home movies, priceless jewels, and much more.
The
Philadelphia Museum of Art is among the largest museums in
the United States. It contains more than 200 galleries
showcasing over 2000 years of exceptional human creativity
in painting, sculpture, photography, decorative arts and
textiles.
“We are
excited about our road trip to Philadelphia to visit this
limited exhibition of Princess Diana, as well as one of the
best art museums in the world at the Philadelphia Museum of
Art,” said SAMA-Altoona Coordinator, Barbara Hollander.
“People have been asking when we would be arranging our next
trip, so here it is. We will only be taking one bus, so if
you are interested, please reserve your space early.”
Departure is
scheduled for 6 a.m. on December 1 from the Lowe’s parking
lot in Altoona. There will be a stop on the return trip at
the King of Prussia Mall for dinner and shopping. The bus is
expected to return to Altoona at 11 p.m.
