FOLK ARTIST TO SPEAK AT LUNCH A L'ART
Altoona – The Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art at Altoona
will host a Lunch a l’Art program with artist Jory Albright
on Thursday, October 8. The program, which begins at noon,
includes lunch and a presentation by the artist. Cost is $13
per person or $12 for SAMA members. Please call the Museum
at (814) 946-4464 for reservations or more information.
Currently on
view at the Museum is Jory Albright: Mindful Travels.
The exhibition features more than 40 works by the Altoona
folk artist. While capturing Albright’s career-long
dedication to pictorial narratives, the works in this
exhibition also reveal the artist’s expertise in blending
the serious with the whimsical. The exhibition will remain
on view through January 9.
Albright has
been featured in several area exhibitions and permanent
collections. In addition to a 1988 SAMA exhibition of local
folk artists, he has shown at the Blair County Arts
Festival, Mountain Top Art Gallery, Altoona Area Public
Library and Pittsburgh Art Center, among others. His work is
featured in the permanent collections of SAMA, the Altoona
Railroaders Memorial Museum, Mount Aloysius College and the
Altoona Hotel.
Lunch a
l’Art programs are offered to encourage a greater
understanding of various art forms and movements as well as
a deeper appreciation for the exhibitions presented by the
Museum.
