ACOUSTIC DUO FEATURED AT
SAMA-ALTOONA’S
BLUE MONDAY
Altoona—The Southern
Alleghenies Museum of Art at Altoona is featuring acoustic
duo Patrick McGinnis and Jason McIntyre at the next
installment of the Blue Monday series on August 13.
Blue Monday is an informal evening celebrating art
and music. The program runs from 6 to 8 p.m. and includes
hors d’oeuvres and libations. Cost for the program is $20
per person.
McGinnis and McIntyre
describe their sound as Americana, roots and folk-oriented
tunes. Their setlist includes covers of Bob Dylan, Neil
Young, Merle Haggard and the Grateful Dead. Patrick McGinnis
has been performing in the Southwestern Pennsylvania area
since the mid-70s and plays guitar, pedal bass, and electric
bass. Jason McIntyre is a native of State College and also
plays in the band, The Rustlanders, who are set to release
their debut CD in August. He plays guitar, mandolin, dobro
and harmonica.
The exhibition, Four
Lenses-Four Views: Gary Baranec, Sandra Halpern, Steve Root,
and Bernard Schilling is currently on view at the
Museum. It features four Pennsylvania photographers
who use widely varying styles but still deliver striking and
thought-provoking images. The exhibition will remain on view
through August 19.
The Southern Alleghenies
Museum of Art at Altoona is located in the Brett Building at
1210 Eleventh Avenue. Hours of operation are 10 a.m. to 5
p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 1 to 5 p.m. on weekends. The
Museum is a handicapped-accessible facility and is open to
the public free of charge. Parking is available in the
garage across the street or in metered spots in the lot at
the rear of the building. For more information, call the
Museum or visit www.sama-art.org.
