SAMA’S THIRD BLUE MONDAY
PROGRAM TO FEATURE STREET PARTY
Altoona- The Southern
Alleghenies Museum of Art at Altoona is continuing its
second season of Blue Monday on June 11. Blue
Monday is an informal evening celebrating art and music.
The program runs from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Altoona Museum and
includes hors d’oeuvres and libations. Each program also
features a performance by some the Altoona area’s best
musical talent. The programs are held on the second Monday
of each month through September. The June program features a
street party with The Syrins. The Syrins are a classic rock
band featuring Chris Conrad, Tom Fronauer, Ryan Furry and
Mike Furry. They play an eclectic mix of music from the 60s,
70s and 80s.
This is SAMA-Altoona’s
biggest Blue Monday celebration of the summer and
will feature plenty of favorite cookout foods. Cost for the
program is $20 per person. Reservations are required and can
be made by calling the Museum at (814) 946-4464.
Two exhibitions are
currently on view at the Museum: The Art of Peter Frantz
and Four Lenses-Four Views: Gary Baranec, Sandra Halpern,
Steve Root, and Bernard Schilling. Peter Frantz

to the exhibition will be greeted by several towering
abstract sculptures, as well as tabletop sculptures and 3-D
wall pieces. The exhibition is on view until August 5.
Four Lenses-Four Views features four Pennsylvania
photographers who use widely varying styles but still
deliver striking and thought provoking images. The
exhibition will run until August 19.
