ALTOONA ARTIST TO SPEAK AT LUNCH A L’ART
Altoona – Altoona artist Susan Severson will
speak at a Lunch a l’Art program at the Southern Alleghenies
Museum of Art at Altoona on Friday, March 16. The program
begins at noon with lunch and includes a gallery tour of
Severson’s exhibition, Tales From My Inner City. Cost
for the program is $12 or $10 for SAMA members. Reservations
are required by March 14 and can be made by calling the
Museum at (814) 946-4464.
The exhibition offers the viewer 25 works that
evoke both the inspiration and loneliness that one can find
in the heart of the big city. The subjects in Severson’s 25
oil on canvas works are soulful, yet colorful characters who
bring the viewer closer to both examining the works and
experiencing their own private emotions. The exhibition will
be on view through May 13.
Severson received an M.FA from Brooklyn College
and a B.A. from The City College of New York. She also has
attended the Art Student’s League and the Brooklyn Museum
Art School and studied under renowned artists such as Philip
Pearlstein and George Tooker. She has had 26 solo
exhibitions, along with work appearing in numerous group and
juried exhibitions. Her works are included in more than 100
public and private collections throughout the United States.
Lunch a l’Art programs are offered to encourage
a greater understanding of various art forms and movements,
as well as a deeper appreciation for the exhibitions
presented by the Museum.
