Édouard Boubat's series of 15 gelatin silver
prints represents the artist's work from 1950 through 1980 while
on assignment in Fontainebleau, Paris, Normandy, Mexico, Cahors,
Portugal, and Spain. A French photojournalist, Boubat depicts
life in the streets using a 35 mm. camera. One of the European
heirs of Henri Cartier-Bresson's "decisive moment photography,"
he captures an event in a fraction of a second to give the
incident its proper context. The scene illustrated here
captures a moment of lighthearted gaiety.
