Charles Yeiser's
restrained arrangements of fruits, vegetables, flowers and kitchen
utensils are meticulously defined with light and shadow. The
textures of polished woods and various fabrics convey a warm sense
of domestic intimacy. Regarded as one of his most significant
still life compositions, Tapestry of Fruit and Flowers is a
masterwork of strong patterning, high color and detail.
Born in 1925 in Womelsdorf, Berks County, Pennsylvania, Yeiser was
educated at Kutztown State College, Pratt Institute, and New York
University. From 1971 to 1980, he directed and owned FAR Gallery
in New York City which specialized in works in all media by
contemporary American Realist artists, like himself. Yeiser has
had one-person shows in New York City, Washington, D.C., and
Greensburg, Pennsylvania, and has participated in group
exhibitions throughout the Northeast and California.
