Grade Level 11-12

 

Materials Needed:
Glass tubes
Propane torch
Welding gloves 
Safety glasses
Carbon rod
Heat wrap


 Objectives:

  • To promote problem solving

  • To encourage creativity

  • To create a piece of artwork
     
    Procedure:

    1. Do research on the art of glass blowing.

    2. Contact glass supplier to purchase glass.

      3.

    3. Research blown glass examples.

    4. Talk about safety.

      5.

    5. Experiment with the glass.

    6. Assess daily work.

    7. Design a piece of blown glass.

    8. Construct s piece of blown glass.

    9. Asses the final work

Assessment:
     Student and teacher would assess work and progress daily.


Enrichment:
     Look at examples of blown glass.
